UNTAG Cirebon and Asta Karya Officially Sign an MoU, Opening Access to International Internship Opportunities in Japan

CIREBON – Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 (UNTAG) Cirebon continues to solidify its steps in expanding its strategic partnership network to realize the university’s internationalization vision. This commitment was tangibly demonstrated through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNTAG Cirebon and Lembaga Pelatihan Kerja (LPK) Asta Karya Bandung. The signing procession took place solemnly at the UNTAG Cirebon Campus on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

This formal meeting marked the third official visit by the management of LPK Asta Karya to the UNTAG Cirebon campus. This institutional partnership process has progressed in a gradual, measurable, and sustainable manner. The first visit in the past focused on initial exploration and vision alignment regarding the implementation of overseas employment cooperation. This strategic step was then followed up during the second visit, where LPK Asta Karya was present to conduct basic competency exams, which included written and physical tests for prospective student interns.

During this third visit, which served as the culmination of the exploration series, LPK Asta Karya was present not only to formalize the legal umbrella of the partnership but also to assist with a crucial selection phase for the students. The main agenda for the day included conducting advanced virtual job interviews. This session directly connected five students from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) UNTAG Cirebon, who had passed the previous tests, with the management of a clam farming industry from Japan.

The signing of this global-scale institutional cooperation document was attended and witnessed directly by top leadership from the UNTAG Cirebon rectorate and faculties. The presence of these leaders underscored the university’s full commitment and support for the sustainability of international graduate absorption programs. The university leadership present to oversee this procession included the Rector of UNTAG Cirebon, Vice Rector 1, Vice Rector 2, the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

Through the formalization of this strategic partnership, UNTAG Cirebon ensures the availability of a safe, legal, and accountable formal platform for students to undertake field work practices and internships abroad. This synergy is expected to enhance the global competitiveness of UNTAG Cirebon graduates, while accelerating the absorption of alumni in the international industrial sector, particularly in modern marine and fisheries cultivation based in Japan.
