UNTAG Cirebon

Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 (UNTAG) Cirebon was established on September 2, 1962, originally as a branch of UNTAG Jakarta. The founding of UNTAG Cirebon was inseparable from the dedication of key figures who previously established the Corporate Management Academy (Akademi Pimpinan Perusahaan – APP) Cirebon in 1961, led by D. Usman Imam as Director, which operated as a branch of APP Bandung.

When APP Cirebon was unable to sustain its operations, its 104 students sent representatives to Jakarta to meet with Prof. Dr. Prajudi Atmosudirdjo, who served as the Rector Magnificus at the time. Upon his recommendation, permission was granted to establish the Cirebon Branch of UNTAG, complete with its own foundation and university management structures.

Through the efforts of Mr. Tikok Moch. Ichlas, the former Regent (Bupati) of Indramayu, the Sunan Kalijaga Foundation was established to manage UNTAG Cirebon. Mr. Waluyo, who then served as the Regional Secretary (Sekretaris Daerah) of Cirebon Municipality, assumed the role of Secretary. The Director of the Faculty of State Administration and Business Administration was Mr. Drs. R. Machfudz, the Wedana (District Chief) of Palimanan. In 1965, the university held its first National Examination, producing 13 full graduates majoring in Business Administration.

In its subsequent development, on January 1, 1965, Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 (UNTAG) Cirebon Branch was officially established with dr. H. Abdul Manaf serving as Rector, assisted by Vice-Rectors Sunardi, S.H., Kusrini, S.H., and Drs. Sudharman.

Initially, Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Cirebon comprised 4 (four) faculties:

1. Faculty of State Administration and Business Administration

2. Faculty of Law

3. Faculty of Economics

4. Faculty of Political and Social Sciences

The public demand for UNTAG Cirebon graduates heavily influenced the progress of each faculty. The subsequent establishment of the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), the Faculty of Sports and Health Education (FPOK), and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) initially faced low public interest in Cirebon, leading to their eventual closure despite having achieved registered status at the time.

With the establishment of Kopertis (the Coordinator of Private Higher Education Institutions) in 1975, all UNTAG branches were required to detach themselves from their parent institution in Jakarta. The Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Cirebon Higher Education Foundation was legally formalized by Notary Mas Djoko Mardejo under Deed Number 34, dated February 27, 1964, and has since undergone several structural updates.

Pursuant to Notarial Deed Number 08 dated June 9, 2016, issued by Notary Herry Herdadi Basuki, S.H., M.Kn., the institutional governance structure is established as follows:

The organizational management under Deed No. 08 dated June 9, 2016, has been officially ratified by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia under Decree Number AHU-AH.01.06-0002730 in Jakarta, dated June 21, 2016. In terms of taxation compliance, the UNTAG Cirebon Foundation is registered with Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) 1.457.960.1-426.000 and Taxpayer Registration Card Number: 104020-426.

Today, UNTAG Cirebon possesses representative campus infrastructure and facilities, fully supported by a well-qualified and highly capable faculty.
